"As an out-of-state student, my scholarship has made all the difference. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your kind donations and helping to provide an education to students in need of assistance."

Receiving the news that you’ve made it over the hurdles of the admission process and been accepted to William & Mary can be a thrilling moment. But discovering that William & Mary cannot offer you the financial aid you need to attend can be disheartening, especially when you have offers from other universities that will allow you to pursue your passions without the burden of debt. When an admitted student decides to go elsewhere due to financial need, William & Mary loses their unique perspective and everything they could have contributed to advance our vibrant academic community. That is why need-based scholarships are the university’s highest priority.
Gifts to the Scholarships Impact Fund are the most effective means of making a difference in the lives of students today. About a third of the university’s undergraduates require financial assistance to attend William & Mary. This flexible, immediate-used fund allows the university to boost financial aid packages each year and reduce the amount of debt a student may need to take on to afford the opportunity of attending.
Each year, $52 million is required to meet the financial need of undergraduate students, but currently William & Mary can only provide $35 million. Need-based scholarship endowments help to fill that gap by offering consistent and dependable resources for generations of gifted students.
