Mike '95, L.H.D. '08 and Kiya '96 Tomlin

“This is a place that instills the belief that anything is possible. At William & Mary we learned to take risks and adapt to change, to seize opportunities and overcome difficulties. And to do so with honor and integrity.”

Mike and Kiya Tomlin met while they were both students at William & Mary. A three-year starter on the Tribe football team, Mike ended his college career with a school-record 20 touchdowns. Today, he’s a two-time Super Bowl head coach, the youngest head coach to both coach in and win a Super Bowl, and the recipient of the NFL’s Coach of the Year. He was also the keynote speaker at our 2008 Commencement exercises, and is a recipient of the College’s honorary doctorate of humane letters.

Kiya is a fashion designer and entrepreneur with years of experience designing custom, one-of-a-kind pieces. She has applied that expertise in creating Uptown Sweats, her ready-to-wear brand. A collection of reimagined sweatsuits for the modern woman, Uptown Sweats combines cover-girl glamour with the comfort and ease of a favorite sweatshirt. Kiya continues to design custom creations for high-profile clients in Pittsburgh and across the country.
